Purple Cabbage Salad

I love cabbage, especially purple cabbage, in a salad or on its own. Although I sometimes make it with yogurt, this practical recipe that is usually prepared quickly and leaves a taste like pickles on your palate is my favourite.

Instead of chopping the cabbage and leaving it crunchy, you can rub it with some salt to both reveal its flavor and soften it. You can store the purple cabbages you have prepared in this way in an airtight container in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 days and use them in different salads.

If you have a small purple cabbage, use it whole, if it is medium size, half will be enough. It is very important to rest for a while the recipe you have prepared in garlic appetizers and salads that you will serve cold.

The garlic you add while preparing may seem small to you, but after resting, the garlic you use in a small amount will work into the salad and give it a full flavor. If you mistakenly add too much, there is a practical solution, it is included. add some yoghurt. This will make your salad lighter.

How to Make Purple Cabbage Salad Recipe?

  1. Cut off the first one or two leaves of purple cabbage (I don't usually use them because they are too hard. Wash the cabbage by rubbing it and put it on the cutting board.
  2. Chop the cabbage you cut lengthwise into two parts as finely as possible.
  3. Take the chopped cabbage into a deep bowl, add some salt on it and knead it with your hands until it gives its color and becomes soft. (You can add 1-2 teaspoons of salt according to your taste.)
  4. Add 1 clove of garlic, vinegar, lemon juice, olive oil and vinegar that you crushed to the softened cabbage and mix.
  5. Add raisins if desired and serve after resting for 1 hour.
