Dried Tomato Appetizer
Hello Dear Friends,
On our last day in Akyaka, we prepared one of the popular appetizers with tomatoes that my dear aunt dried last September. I think I had the opportunity to eat dried tomatoes at home for the first time because we don't have such a chance due to the humidity and space constraints in Istanbul. Where is that garden in us?
The taste of the tomatoes, which were picked and dried on time, combined with olive oil from the villages of Akyaka, thyme collected from the mountains (dried from the market, fresh from the thyme my aunt bought from the mountain and grown in her garden) and almonds from Datça, gave us an unforgettable feast of taste.
We prepared 2 types according to our taste. One with thyme and almonds, as I like it, and the other with chives, walnuts, thyme and olives (olives are gemlik olives).
I am writing here and there, or in fact, I am recording these beauties for myself as well as for you. It is not known when I will be able to combine the taste I have received with ingredients from the region in this way, but I will definitely repeat it.
You can find semi-dried or sun-dried tomatoes in the markets. Prefer semi-dried and vacuum-packed tomatoes to prepare this appetizer. If you buy dried tomatoes, do not boil them and do not use them. Soften them for a while in a jar with garlic and olive oil. (Minimum 1 week)
I'm sad that I'm leaving, but I'll be back...
Let this delicious appetizer, born from Akyaka tomato and Datça almond, be my gift to Akyaka as I leave...
Simple but delicious...
Love…

Can you share the recipe for dried tomatoes with olives. Thank you.
Dried tomatoes have a distinct odor that isn't strange, but the spices usually get past it. Dried tomatoes, on the other hand, are best for dipped. ;)
Hello, I have a question for you. There are dried tomatoes from Antep at home, but they have a strange smell, I didn't know if the dried tomato had a natural smell. I first met him when I saw your recipe, I wanted to ask him. I will be glad if you reply when you find it, my love...
Hello Melek, the smell of the place where it was dried may have gone. I don't think there is anything that can make it smell if the thyme hasn't been cut, unfortunately.
