Homemade Cheese Pita with Sausage

In our house, pita has been prepared with this recipe for years. Actually, I used to like to eat pita on the outside, but lately it started to give me heartburn. Since we do not order from outside during the quarantine days, those who miss pide like lahmacun are in the majority.

Those who are looking for a recipe as delicious as ready-made are looking at it right now :) It is very, very easy to make, if you follow my recipe beautifully, you will definitely get cotton-like pita.

We made a total of 4 pitas. Two of them were with sausage and two with minced meat. I didn't make a mortar for the ground meat, I took it out in the meatballs in the freezer, mashed it a little, diluted it and used it.

How to Make Homemade Cheese Pide with Sausage Recipe?

  1. Take the yeast in a deep bowl, add warm water to it, mix and froth by activating.
  2. Add half the flour and salt and mix. Add the remaining flour and olive oil and start kneading the dough.
  3. Cover the knead until you get a dough that is not coarse but sticks to the hand, cover it in a warm place and leave it to ferment for 45 minutes.
  4. While the dough is fermenting, grate the cheese, slice the sausages and prepare the inside.
  5. Take the fermented dough on the floured counter, knead it lightly and divide it into 4 parts.
  6. Roll out each piece long and thin.
  7. Put the cheese grater in the middle of the rolled dough and place the sausage slices on it.
  8. Fold the edges of the dough in one inch at a time and brush with egg yolk. Put 1-2 small pieces of butter on each pita.
  9. Bake at 200-210 degrees until golden brown, slice and serve.
