Cherry Meat Stew

You are more or less familiar with the fruit & meat dishes that have survived to the present day, especially from the Ottoman Cuisine. For example, stuffed melon with meat, lahm-i cherry (kebab with cherry), mahmudiye (chicken meat and dried fruits) or prepared with dried fruits. lamb mutancana … Although fruit and meat may seem very contradictory together, it is definitely one of the experiences that should be given a chance. I tried it for the first time years ago when I was going to culinary school and was very surprised by this wonderful combination.
Now let's come to another fruity meat dish… Sour cherry is also used in many recipes in our kitchen. For example, cherry leaf wrap, sour cherry rice or cherry meatballs… My favorite recipe is Cherry Meat Stew with that sour-sweet flavor it adds to the meat.
You can't get enough of it when you serve it with roasted eggplant that you sautéed in butter.

Ingredients for Cherry Meat Stew Recipe
- 500 gr cubed lamb meat
- 300 pitted cherries (remove from freezer to room temperature)
- 1 medium onion
- 2 spoonful butter
- 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 teaspoon of honey
- 300 ml bone broth
- 300 ml water
- Salt
- Black pepper
How to Make Meat Stew with Cherry Recipe?
- Season the lamb meat with salt and pepper, put the olive oil in the pot and heat it up.
- Seal the meat on high heat and set aside.
- Saute the lamb meat by adding the chopped onion and butter to the pot you sealed.
- Add the lamb meat, honey, water and bone broth together with the bone broth and cook with the lid closed until the meat is tender.
- When the meat is tender, add the cherries, cook for a few minutes, taking care not to fall apart, and serve.
