Sugar Dough Making and Modeling

Here are my first sugar paste figures, the Dervish Santa Claus and the Crazy Cow Otis... You will meet my ladybugs tomorrow too... It's not that hard to make figures out of sugar paste and it's a very enjoyable endeavor. It's perfect for relieving work stress, I think it's a small-scale therapy. Let me tell you, once you get infected you won't want to quit, so think twice :)

what is sugar paste

Actually, everything started with my crazy desire to make something from colored dough. The reason for this is that I am obsessed with my blog and cooking outside of my work, and I have to take a break from my work, even though I yearn to paint. (If only there were 24 hours a day instead of 52 :( I wish I could paint as I want, take pictures and cook with a bidet and do it without getting stuck in the house) When my dear wife saw this passion and bought me a Strawberry Marzipan shaping set as a surprise, I said okay. While I was describing the Spice Bazaar from the places I visited, I mentioned that I bought sugar paste materials, but I did not write what I bought. While shopping, I bought 1 kg of ready-made white sugar paste for my first modeling experiments. I bought the raw materials that make up the sugar paste in order to apply what I read and to make sugar paste at home. I kneaded the dough according to the instructions, but even though I applied the measurements exactly, the dough was runny and did not come together, so I had to add extra powdered sugar.

A friend of mine who saw my models before you asked me to make a cake for his girlfriend's birthday on Saturday. I happily accepted. So, I find that I have received my first cake order :) I will use the dough I kneaded tonight, if it is successful, I will publish the recipe (it seems like it's done to me though :). I said I bought this and that, so what did I buy? Let me tell you right away… And what is sugar paste? Let me tell you how to use it.

What is sugar paste? What are the materials needed for its construction?

Candy dough is an edible dough based on powdered sugar, which can be colored with food coloring, both for making small figures (rose, cow, flower, Santa Claus, etc.), as well as for coating cakes, cakes and cookies.

I want to ask something. Is the glycerine we put in it sold in pharmacies we know? Or is it a separate product? Where can I find glucose? I would be glad if you help. There is no store that sells cake products in my area.

    Hello,

What kind of gelatin do you use, I live abroad and only gelatin made from pork marrow is sold here. Otherwise it's just gelatin made from seaweed.
    thanks

      Zehra,

You can also use kosher gelatin or fish gelatin…you may need to play around with the sizes but it will give the same result.

    Dear Mrs. Ayşe, hello.
I am writing to you from Antalya. I have been a regular of your site since I started this sugar paste. There are very good posts, I congratulate you.
I tried making the dough with the recipe I bought from a foreign site. It did not become elastic. The dough broke off. The recipe I got: 1 tpsb+2tsp gelatin-4/1cup cold water-2/1cup glucose-2tbsp vegetable margarine-1tbsp glycerin and 8 cup powdered sugar.
When to add Powdered Sugar to glucose diluted by mixing 1-inflated gelatin with bain-marie method (warm-warm)
2-How long is the kneading time?
    3-the machinist must knead
4-How fine should the powdered sugar be?
What is the difference between 5-pattern dough and sugar paste used for coating?
6-How was the success of the sugar paste you mentioned?
    What are your recommendations?
Thank you very much for your valuable cooperation and I wish you success.

I bought materials for my Mrb son to make cakes and cookies in kindergarten. The letters are kubats, but when I step on the sugar paste, I cannot step on the other colored sugar paste and remove the colored letters. It stays in the mold, what do you think I should do?

Hello Ms. Dilek, you can try the molds by dipping them in starch or powdered sugar. So it will be much easier to get out.

If you don't add glycerin, wouldn't I have sugar paste or I can't find powder gelatin, but I have leaf gelatin, is it okay if I melt it with a bain-marie and add it?

    Sev h. Hello

As I mentioned in my article on Uğur Insect Cake, the measurements in the first attempt did not give me the consistency I wanted, I haven't had the chance to make a second try yet when I find the opportunity to work. For this reason, I cannot give a measure, you risk having a problem if I do. But I assure you I will share the measurements on the 2nd try as soon as possible.

You can reach my cake article from the link below… Love..

mrb is very sweet, I've been wanting to make sugar paste for a long time, but I couldn't find glucose here. I also found a starchy recipe for my models, but I make it from it, but this is inedible and difficult to work with, dries quickly and breaks. I hope one day if I reach glucose, I will make it with real sugar paste. I wish you success
