Sea Beans
I bought many different and pleasant products from the market we went to for holiday shopping. This holiday, I had the opportunity to try the Sea Beans, which I wanted to make for a long time, but could not find the opportunity.
On the first day of the holiday, all the elders of the family were with us for dinner. Of course, the most favorite dish of our menu during the Feast of Sacrifice was roasting and rice. Holidays are more enjoyable and more beautiful when the family is together and your table is crowded...
When the tiredness of last night passed, I said that this evening is the right time for sea cowpea. And I started the preparation of the salad.
So what is this black-eyed pea?
This plant, which grows on the sea shores, is salty, slightly sour, but very tasty. It is a complete iodine store as the sea grows. With this feature, it is very good for goiter patients. When it is boiled lightly and made into a salad, you can consume it as a medicine as well as for its taste.

Ingredients for Sea Beans Recipe
- 2 bunch of sea beans
- 4-5 tablespoons of olive oil
- 5 cloves of garlic
- juice of half a lemon
- 2 liters of water
- (you don't need to add salt as it is quite salty)
Fabrication:
- Wash the sea cowpeas in 1-2 waters and cut off the roots, if any. Boil 2 liters of water in a large pot and boil the black-eyed peas for 10 minutes by throwing them into the water.
- Take the cooked cowpeas out of the pot with the help of a colander and hold them under cold water (this way they will keep their green color).
- Remove the bones of the boiled cowpeas (holding the branches by the stems, pull the branches towards you one by one and collect the green parts that come out.)
- Mix olive oil with crushed garlic and lemon juice. Mix it with the black-eyed peas you bought in the salad bowl and serve.
- It tastes much better if you make it a night before and let it sit.
I adore sea beans. I boiled it, extracted it, and then popped it in the freezer to make it. I hope it stays to beat when it comes out :))

You can also make sea cowpeas as follows.
After boiling and cleaning, you can fry 1-2 cloves of garlic in olive oil in a separate pan, cook it with tomato grater, put it on the sea cowpea and serve it warm, or without cooking it with tomato grated and garlic.
enjoy your meal.
came to help again "kitchen secrets" was a great snack.. :)
I love this flavor too...
Thanks for the recipe, happy holiday, healthy days, love
Hello Muhsin, my friends from university are still in the Aegean, maybe they can find it. I will ask as soon as possible, if I find it, I will get the recipe. Thanks, love…
Hello, Banu, I will definitely try it with yogurt, love.
Thank you very much dear Dilek :) I wish you a quick recovery, love...
yes, it's a really delicious and healthy plant, I recommend it to be tried. By the way, nilay can't find any kind of rock grove in Istanbul despite all my research. Although it is a great taste, it is healthy and an indispensable complement to raki. If you find the recipe, it grows on the part of the rock facing the sea. It is a plant native to the Aegean region.
As an Aegean, I recommend you to make it, it is very delicious. Happy Holidays to everyone!
dear kitchen secrets, first of all, I follow you with love and appreciation. You are great. I understood better with you what I was deprived of when I had no computer. Now I turn back time by doing and applying all the good things that have passed. I also met sea cowpea this winter and I love making its salad every week. I also suffer from goiter and when I learn that it is good. I loved you more than you. ALSO THANK YOU .Best wishes
happy holidays my dear
It's one of my favorite salads, but I'm longing to come here. I strongly recommend you to try it, my love.
I met this when I was living in Antalya/Finike, they called it “salty grass” there. After it is boiled and the bone is removed, yoghurt with garlic and chili pepper in heated oil is added, it is delicious as an appetizer.
