In my Monday recipe, I told you about whey and the recipes in which it can be used. I really couldn't wait to share one of the most delicious and thick pancakes I've ever baked. This recipe belongs to a father and son who own the Newhouse farm in England. As a matter of fact, it was the traditional recipe of his great-grandmothers.

You can also use milk without whey, but I would definitely recommend you to try it when you make curd one day. Another important ingredient in the recipe is cream of tartar. It makes our pan cakes both puffy and puffy with cream of tartar and baking soda. You can buy cream of tartar from pastry shops or online. When I looked on the internet, I saw that many spice brands have cream of tartar, but I have never come across it in the markets.

Ingredients for Pancake (with Whey) Recipe

  • 1 large eggs
  • 75 g granulated sugar (a little less than 1 teaspoon)
  • 250 g flour (2 cups)
  • half teaspoon cream of tartar
  • half a teaspoon of baking soda
  • salt with the tip of 1 teaspoon
  • 1,5 cups of whey

How to Make Pancake (with Whey) Recipe?

  1. Sift the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda together and set aside.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar and salt to fluff the egg.
  3. Add some of the flour and start mixing without extinguishing the egg.
  4. Add a little whey, a little flour and add all the ingredients without deflating the eggs.
  5. Lightly oil the Teflon pan, remove excess oil with a napkin. Take 1 small ladle of the dough and pour it into the pan. Pour 2-3 pieces at a time and turn the other side when the top of the dough is eye to eye.
  6. Turn the other side after 30 seconds and remove from the pan. Do the same until all the dough is gone.
  7. Serve with jam, honey, fresh fruits.
