Documents Required for Marriage Application

You have to apply to the marriage office of the county in which you live. Me and my wife applied to Üsküdar Marriage Office and started the proceedings, then we got a permit and got married in Beşiktaş. In order not to waste your time, I recommend that you complete your documents before applying. After browsing the list below, get information from the marriage office you will apply for.

1- Original and photocopies of identity cards (must have pictures)

2- Certificate of residence documenting that one of the couples resides in Beşiktaş and its photocopy (Those who do not reside in Beşiktaş can apply to Beşiktaş Marriage Office by obtaining a permit from the District Marriage Office to which they are affiliated).

3-6 photos (photocopies are not accepted).

Candidates who are 4-16 years old and take 17 days to get permission from the Family Court.
Candidates who have completed the age of 17 and have reached the age of 18 can marry with the consent of their parents obtained from the notary public. (If one of the parents died or separated, the custody will be documented with the birth certificate).

5-Certificate registration samples and photocopies of the last marital status of the couples to be obtained from the Population Directorate.

6-Women whose 300 days have not expired as of the finalization of the divorce are required to obtain a decision on the period of iddah from the Family Court.

7- If there is a previous marriage, divorce or death, the last marital status recorded in the identity cards.

8- If a foreign national, 2 photocopies of the original and illustrated part of the passport. A certificate of celibacy to be obtained from the consulate in Istanbul. It will be approved by the Istanbul Provincial Legal Affairs Office and 3 photocopies will be taken. If there is no consulate in Istanbul, the certificate of celibacy to be obtained from the Embassies in Ankara will be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

9-Health reports and their photocopies. They will be taken from the Government Medical Office, Health Centers, Mother and Child Health and Family Planning Centers. (necessary tests in the health report) HIV-ELISA, HBSAC-YELLOW, VDRL-SYPHILIS AND LUNG X-ray)

10-The application is between 08.30-11.30 in the morning and the couples must come together.

11-Documents must be filled with a black pilot or fountain pen.

12- Those who request separation of property will bring with them the AGREEMENT ON SEPARATION OF PROPERTY, which they have obtained from the notary public, during the application. (1 original, 1 photocopy)

13- Those who want to use their maiden surname must fill in the surname petition, which they will obtain from the registration desk at the time of application.

14-Application documents are valid for 6 months from the date of receipt.

15-2 postage stamps.
