Hello Dear Friends,

I'm one of those who can't stand to see the fresh peas in the market :) Even though it seems like a chore to open and sort them one by one, this is the freshest way you can cook them. When the price drops a little more, I will sort it out, portion it and throw it in the freezer.

If there is one dish that I love as much as peas with olive oil, it is peas with meatballs. We can say that it is my favorite menu with rice pilaf and yogurt on the side :)

While I was preparing, I thawed 8-9 of the mother meatballs that I threw in the freezer and cut them into small pieces and made mini balls. So it took much less time for me to prepare. If you do not have meatballs at home, you can prepare your meatballs according to the recipe in this link from 150 - 200 gr ground beef.

Ingredients for Meatballs and Peas Recipe

  • 400 gr peas
  • 2 medium carrot
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 5-6 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 meal spoon tomato paste
  • salt
  • black pepper

For the meatballs:

Fabrication:

  1. Wash and drain the inner peas. Boil plenty of water in a saucepan and add salt to it. Boil the peas in water for 5 minutes, drain and rinse with cold water.
  2. Cut the meatballs into hazelnut-sized pieces and roll them in your hand and set aside.
  3. Peel and dice the carrots and potatoes.
  4. In a medium saucepan, sauté the olive oil and onion.
  5. Put the carrots in the pot and fry for 1 more minute.
  6. Add the tomato paste to the pot and fry for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Add the peas, then the diced potato to the pot.
  8. Add enough hot water to cover it by 2 inches and mix.
  9. When the water boils, add the meatballs. Cook over medium heat until all vegetables are soft.
  10. Serve hot.
