Hello Dear Friends,

This spring, it has become compulsory to do something with this medicinal herb that I come across wherever I go :) From the grass festival to the village markets of our green districts, this pleasant-looking herb, which is sold in bunches, is often found in the Mediterranean, Aegean and Marmara regions. I usually come across the self-growing blackhead on the side of the road.

We had to buy quite a lot, as a small bunch costs 2 liras in the market and petals are used to make jam. We collected it ourselves on the way back to Istanbul from the summer house. It is possible to collect it from the roadside slopes between Armutlu-Gemlik and Armutlu-Fistikli.

Blackhead Grass, aka wild lavenderWhile making jam, tiny purple petals and flowers are used, and half-finger-long bulk flowers are used in tea. Tea can be brewed both dry and wet. I'll write the recipe for that another time.

The benefits are uncountable from what I've read. It has many features from making it easier to quit smoking to calming the nerves. Again, according to what I have read, it is recommended not to consume without consulting a doctor in continuous drug use, and to take a break of at least 15-15 days after 30 days. Of course, this applies to tea…

An example of its external use, and one of my followers on Instagram, to which I was very surprised, was that it was good for his eczema. He had tried many drugs before but was unsuccessful. He boiled the blackhead herb for 5 minutes, put it on his eczema, and waited until it cooled down. In the 2nd use, her eczema is gone. Of course, this example may not work for everyone, maybe you have allergies, so definitely consult your doctor. Do not apply it in your mind.

When boiling the jam, at first the color becomes brownish. It turns a sweet purple after adding the lemon salt. It even darkens in color as it sits in the jar. I added 10 ball flowers to increase the aroma.

Love…

I picked the flowers yesterday. I made the jam today. It has a very bitter and pungent taste. Besides, I did too much.
