Fig Sherbet – Cactus Fruit

Fig sherbet is a flavor that I met thanks to Ali Usta while I was doing my internship at Kivahan. I love cacti, but I've never seen fruit before, and I've never had a cactus big enough to bear fruit.

Peeling the cactus fruit is a laborious task, even if you wear two layers of gloves, you have to remove thorns from your hands. The most practical way to protect yourself from thorns is to wash the fruit under the tap while wearing gloves and to partially remove the thorns.

sherbet making
After peeling the skin of the thorny fruit, the purple-colored and fleshy part that emerges from the bottom has a taste unlike anything else. You can even eat it this way if you want. Fruit is pretty hard to find around here, but if you have a supplier who can bring this kind of different stuff, it's fine. Love…

I made it by chance last summer, it has an excellent taste, you must try it out of curiosity. Just add sugar and you can chop it before boiling. You need to adjust the sugar well, don't eat for a week, your expectation is to eat it in the refrigerator. 1.5-400 grams of sugar is enough for 500 kilos.

If you leave a cactus fruit in a large bowl with water for about an hour, most of its thorns will surface.

I wish I had jasmine, I had a big cactus in my mother's garden, it only bloomed once a year :) Flat-leaved cacti give these fruits, maybe if we plant them in a large area and wait 3-5 uils :))

Hello, I saw the Frankincense fig a month ago in Mersin. But I couldn't taste it because it was not ripe. I like different flavors. I like your recipes and follow them, thanks.
