Since we regularly feed our yeast and bake bread, we have the chance to experiment a lot. This time I decided to prepare a different recipe than the others.

Ingredients for Sourdough Cinnamon Roll Bun Recipe

For the Sourdough Donut Dough:

  • 150 g sourdough (fed 1 day ago)
  • 1 water glass of water
  • 1 pieces of eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 2 tea spoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 480 gr flour (4 cups flour)

For the cinnamon filling:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1 spoonful butter
  • 3 tablespoons of crushed walnuts

How to Make Sourdough Cinnamon Roll Bun Recipe?

  1. Take warm water, yeast and granulated sugar into a mixing bowl and mix at low speed.
  2. Add eggs, salt, butter to the yeast mixture and mix.
  3. Add the flour in a glass and knead at medium speed.
  4. Take the gathered dough into a deep bowl and let it rest for 4 hours by covering it with cling film to let it rise.
  5. While the dough is resting, mix all the necessary ingredients for the stuffing and set aside.
  6. Roll out the rested dough to a thickness of 1 cm, spread it with cinnamon mortar and make a roll.
  7. Slice the roll you have prepared when it is 3 fingers thick and place it in a square baking dish with greaseproof paper, cover it in this bowl and let it rest for 4 hours.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 20-22 minutes until the dough is browned and the sugars are caramelized.
  9. Serve hot with fresh cream cheese or labneh, if desired.
