Hello Dear Friends,

I've been wanting to make a Madeleine cake for a long time. In fact, it has been almost 2 years since I got my silicone cake molds. When I saw the madeleine cakes on the site prepared for World Baking Day, I rolled up my sleeves saying today is the day. There is cane sugar in the original recipe, but since I have never used it before, I replaced this ingredient with powdered sugar.

Madeleine Cake

If you like dark chocolate, this is a great recipe for you, but it was a bit bitter for me. I will definitely make my next experiment with milk or white chocolate.

The original tariff can be found here and you can find inspiration for your brave one.

Ingredients for Chocolate Madeleine Cake Recipe

  • 100g margarine
  • 2 pieces of eggs
  • 3 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 6 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • 70 g dark chocolate
  • 90 g flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 20 g cocoa powder
  • A pinch of salt

How To Make Chocolate Madlen Cake Recipe?

  1. Melt the margarine on low heat and let it rest until it reaches room temperature. Break the dark chocolate into pieces and melt it in a bain-marie.
  2. Beat eggs with honey and powdered sugar until fluffy.
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder, cocoa and salt in the same bowl.
  4. Add the lemon zest, margarine and chocolate to the eggs you have fluffed and mix for 1 minute.
  5. Add the flour mixture you prepared to the chocolate mixture by sifting it and mix it until it is completely mixed.
  6. Divide the cake dough you prepared into the madeleine cake mold.
  7. Bake the chocolate madeleines for about 8-10 minutes, take them out of the oven and let them cool.
  8. Remove the cooled cakes from the mold and serve.

Since I found the amount of ingredients to be low, especially thinking of my 1,5-year-old son who will eat madeleine cakes, I added an extra 1 egg, 3/4 glass of milk, 20gr more powdered sugar and 1 spoon of honey to the ingredients to soften the cake consistency… Result; great. I got a medium hard cake that can be eaten by children and a very delicious taste :) Thank you for your recipe…
