memory

Even though the cold weather has had an effect on me and continues its attempts to make the bed mattress sick, I take some medicine and hug the memories of the summer and warm up when I'm cold. Today I remembered Armutlu, which I went to last summer, as it is close to Istanbul, and makes you feel like you are in your grandfather's garden in your village. I searched and scanned the photos that I made archiving a habit on my computer, and I took a look at the photos of last summer. It was as if the smell of earth in every photo, the texture of fresh fruit in every photo, the memory of childhood appeared in every photo.

It's not just me, I wanted you to stay warm while browsing the Kitchen Secrets pages in your home on these cold winter days, and I decided to share the photos with you.

My tiny footprints, which I left on the soil of the gardens where I ran when I was little, are now filled with red and purple blackberries. Armutlu is still a village place. Almost every single-storey house has a garden, and every garden has a forest. It is full of fruit trees and each tree is different from the other, from olives, pears, figs, grapes, plums to blackberry branches that get stuck on your feet and ankles while walking around the garden.

While I was wandering among the fruit trees, I kept thinking, if there is anything like childhood. neighborhood neighborhood

Grape

running around, we would enter other people's orchards. It was as if life consisted only of reaching for a fruit-filled upper branch while picking the fruits hanging from its branches. As Cezmi Ersöz said, money, tariffs, expectations, appointments, installments, work, mothers and fears did not exist in life… It was as if other people were not living there. My only concern was to climb the tree and get down without falling. Of course, he was able to climb that tree without being seen by anyone. If the owner of the garden saw me and his friends, he could chase me to the other neighborhood with a broken tree branch.

Actually, that was the beauty of it. If the man calls us and says, "Come, let me collect it and give it to you, you are bored." If he washes the fruits picked from the tree and gives them ready for us. I don't think any of us will enjoy it. You know, where is his excitement, his dirty eating of the fruit that you plucked the thorns from among those branches.

Now I've grown up... I don't need to go in secret to be able to walk in the gardens of Armutlu and eat its fruits, it's enough to say Selamınaleyküm Aghas. They say come and collect them from the garden, old grandmothers and grandfathers. "Come and collect them, they are always spilled on the ground, they rot away before anyone can eat them, come and collect them, as much as you want." Even if it's a little sad, I'm happy to go in and collect those beautiful fresh ones. One can relax and get away from the chaos then. Even from the chaos, noise, pollution, smoke, soot, and all the evils of the city. When you see the small, cute, red blackberry on its branch looking at you, you become happy, you taste the earth while the sun warms your face.Pear

Armutlu village consists of mansions and olive groves. There are no single-storey houses by the sea anymore, and complexes with or without pools have always been built. In the past, there was only transportation by ferry or by road. Now, transportation has been facilitated by seabuses that are put in summer and winter. The length of the cordon, which used to be gravel, was widened and lengthened by pouring a lot of concrete. In short, there is not much left of the word untouched. However, every summer, I escape for a few days to trace my childhood there, to green lush gardens… I adapted the poppy walnut bread I ate in one of those gardens into the bread machine for you. Here you go, eat with pleasure, love to all of you...

Ms. Nilay, it's been a while since your article was published, but I just saw it now. I also spent my childhood summers in Armutlu, I love it very much. Especially in autumn, it will be another beautiful thing. I think my last vacation in Armutlu was the summer of 85, our friendships, our walks to the mansion, the village or the motel model, first loves… all are unforgettable memories. We used to cook it in various ways, from salsa to pizza. Your article reminded me of those days…..thank you.

    Ms. Nilay,
I also bought a Tefal bread maker. But a complete disaster came out of the recipes in the User's Guide. I wanted to make a cake, there is not even a word about the cake in the booklet. I came across your site. I will follow this bread recipe. But you did not specify the amount of flour. You just said mixture, can you enlighten us about the amount? Also, how to make a cake in a Tefal machine? Please can you help me?

      Hello Ms. Tusi,

You are right, there is no cake in the user manual, I will try a cake recipe soon. All of the recipes in the book are very successful, I have tried them and the results have always been good.

For this bread, I used the multigrain bread mix sold in the markets. I think 1 package was 1 kg.

      Greetings

You're right, we didn't want to do this, but we came across friends who copied our recipes on other sites and published them as if they were their own recipes, and we didn't like it at all. That's why we thought of taking such a precaution. Information theft is a problem for everyone, and while we are trying to prevent it, we unfortunately prevent our well-intentioned visitors like you :(

      Love…

I've always wanted to make bread, but it doesn't work in normal ovens. I ordered a bread machine and when it arrives, I'll make it from this recipe. Thank you.

You have talked about such beautiful topics. The vast fruit gardens of Altınoluk, where I grew up as I read, came to my mind. Also, I wish you continued success with your recipes. :)
