Bagel with Olives
Hello dear friends,
I had a nice and enjoyable weekend. This time, I carried my diet materials for breakfast with me. We went to see the movie adapted from the first book of the hunger games series that I read a long time ago on Sunday afternoon. The Hunger Games was a very good movie for those who read the book, they didn't go into too much detail, but it's worth watching. If you haven't read the book, many things may be left in the air because the book is incredibly gripping and detailed. For this reason, I recommend you to read the series and I am sure that you will not be able to put it down even in the first book.
On Saturday morning, we went to my mother's for breakfast, I prepared a bagel with olives for breakfast. The recipe is pretty simple, yeast does all the work.
Molasses and sesame also give a real simit feel. You can diversify the bagels you will prepare by preparing different fillings, just like in bagel cafes. For example, it would be great with cheese and sausage or mixed.
Greetings from a sunny and beautiful Istanbul morning…
Ingredients for the Olive Bagel Recipe
- 1 glass of warm water
- 1 teaspoons of oil
- 1 tea glass of milk
- 1 fresh yeast
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 sweet spice salt
- 2 tablespoons of vinegar
- 4,5 water glass flour
- For the toppings:
- Sesame, molasses
For inside:
- Sliced olives.
Fabrication:
- Crush the fresh yeast in 1 glass of warm water and mix with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar and leave for 10 minutes.
- Take 4,5 cups of flour in a deep mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle and add all the yeast and dough ingredients and knead.
- Gather the dough and cover it with a cloth. Let rest in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Divide the fermented dough into orange-sized balls.
- Open the meringues on a lightly floured counter to 1 cm thickness. Put 2 tablespoons of sliced olives in the middle of the dough you rolled out.
- Fold the dough in a rectangular shape from the edges.
- Mix 4 tablespoons of molasses with water, dip the bagel you prepared first in water with molasses and then sesame.
- Apply the same process to all the meringues and place them on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper at 3-4 cm intervals. Leave to ferment for another 15 minutes on the tray.
- Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees until golden brown.
Where is vinegar used, does it make it swell?
Hello, can we use dry yeast instead of fresh yeast? If we can use it, can you blier the amount, please? thanks
The slime looks very nice, I will do it, but when I say 1 yeast, I understand? Is there no gr or groin size in terms of quantity :(
1 fresh yeast 42 gr
Hello, the recipe looks amazing.. is it okay if we don't use vinegar? ?
Hello, make sure to use vinegar. Don't worry, the taste is never obvious.
hello, maybe it will be a silly question, but I wonder if you can feel the taste of vinegar, I don't like it at all because I have sliced olives in my hand, I have to use it today, the recipe looks great too, by the way, good luck to you...
Hello Meyse, it is definitely not felt. love.
We can do this with different interiors as well.
Can we use dry yeast instead of fresh yeast?
I really liked your recipe, I will try it now. I love to cook, I always look at the recipes and cook. I'm only 14 years old, but there is no food that I don't know, once I cook it, it will never be thrown away.
Hello Tuğçe, if you do not use molasses, it will not turn brown.
I made it, it was very good. Normally, I don't like molasses, I wouldn't use it, but I used it just in case, it was very good thank you.
I'm in Genoa right now and the thing I miss the most here is bagels! Unfortunately I came across molasses while reading your recipe and I can't find it here :( is there something I can use as an alternative??
I am newly married and I will have a guest for tea in the evening. As in this recipe, I made both olives and a few of them with sausage and cheese. And the result: Squishy was great! I'm having a hard time not finishing the tray right now :) I really like your site, thank you for your hard work.. :)
Bagels are delicious with everything, especially such a crispy look! Oh my goodness!
I want to try the cheese and hot dogs.
I tried them yesterday and they turned out great. I made it with spinach instead of olives because it was already inside with spinach. Still, it suits your tea very well. Thanks for the recipe. Love…
I saw it and I loved it :) Well done again :) Best regards…
your health looks great, i will try it for breakfast tomorrow….
I love simit. I have never eaten olives but
Take it easy, Ms. nilay. I tried your bagels yesterday. It was superb. For someone like me who has no talent in pastry, I am not exaggerating, it was very assertive. Thanks a lot for your sharing.
Good luck to your hands, Zeynep :)
"I need to lose weight!" I'm wandering. But when I see this recipe and these wonderful photos, I know that I will not feel comfortable until I try it. Off offf…I can't stand these leavened pastries at all... :(
Dear Ece, a thin slice never hurt anyone :) Love...
I wonder how much water we need to put in 4 scoops of molasses? You also said that 1 package of dry yeast can be used, but what is the size of 1 package, 100 grams is not that much in me, I guess there is quite a lot in it. I don't understand a bit, but I'm trying to understand, I would appreciate if you inform me, thank you :)
Gülşah, I put a little more than half a tea glass. The important thing here is that the molasses is opened and the bagels are easy to smear, when you add the water, look at the color, not too light. When I said dry yeast, I mentioned insatant yeast, which is sold in small packages, it is already written in the comments. I think the back of the yeast package you will use says how much flour and how much yeast you need to add. love.
Ms. Nilay, your site and your recipes are great, but she screams that I have the tea plates too. I want it too, where did you get it?
Sevgiler
Hello Nazan, thank you very much :) I bought it from paşabahçe a long time ago, I hope you still have it. Love…
When I try the recipe, I will write a comment to it, but this comment is for the tea cup and plate :)
Thank you Kitana :) I saw the old plates and tea glasses while shopping for my sister's dowry, I couldn't resist and bought them for myself :)) Love...
Hello there
It looks great on your hands, can we use powdered yeast instead of fresh yeast?
Thank you
Hello, of course you can use 1 pack of instant yeast. Love…
hello, very nice
I wonder, 1 piece of yeast, how much does it weigh according to America?
Hello, 1 pack of Fatoş fresh yeast is 42 grams in Turkey.
thanks!!!!
Hello, Ms. Nilay, I wonder how many pieces are there with these measurements? thanks..
There are 6-7 pieces, but they are quite large, if you want, you can reduce them a little more and increase the number. Love…
