Hello Dear Friends,

It's hard for me to think of a month of Ramadan without a recipe for Güllaç, the rose of Ramadan :) It's interesting that we only think of Ramadan. Wait all year, then prepare Güllaç every 1-3 days for 4 month :)

Since there is no pomegranate in the market anymore, you can use strawberries with peace of mind. Between you and me, I like strawberry gulla a little more than pomegranate :)

Ingredients for Güllaç Recipe (Strawberry) Recipe

  • 8 gullaç phyllo dough
  • 6 water glass milk
  • 1,5 cup powdered sugar
  • walnut

To decorate:

  • Strawberry
  • filet pistachios

Fabrication:

  1. Combine milk and sugar in a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  2. Put the first leaf of Güllac on a wide tray with the shiny side up.
  3. Drizzle 1 ladle of warmed milk over the Güllaç leaf. Put the other leaf on the first leaf and wet it with milk with the help of a ladle. (Optionally, after the 4th leaf, sprinkle some walnut crumbs on this layer only.)
  4. Repeat the process until all the leaves are gone. Pour the remaining milk over the top leaf.
  5. Garnish Güllacı with slices of pistachio and strawberries. When it comes to room temperature and absorbs the milk, let it rest for 1-2 hours in the refrigerator and serve.
