Is it the tiredness of the last days? We miss Akyaka again :) I miss waking up early to go shopping in the market, returning home to prepare dinner in the morning, so that they can travel comfortably all day!

My dear aunt has a practical recipe for times like this (when we want to travel a lot and do little work). As you know, I have never had a relationship with the pressure cooker, so I don't have many recipes using the pressure cooker. After this recipe, the ice between us seemed to thaw :) When I was cooking black-eyed peas at home, I would first fry the tomato and onion, then add the black-eyed peas and their water and cook them. Ok, I didn't add much because the vegetables left water anyway, but I would still wait for it to cook.

In this recipe, we put everything raw and do not add water. When it is cooked, it tastes so good and fresh that once looking at its bowl, it says that I have never eaten fresh black-eyed peas before.

I recommend you to try this classic recipe as well.

Love…

Ingredients for Fresh Cowpea Meal (Pressure Cooked) Recipe

  • 500 g of fresh black-eyed peas
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 medium tomatoes
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • a little less than half a teaspoon of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
  • salt

Fabrication:

  1. Wash the kidney beans and clean the ends with a knife. If they are too long, divide them into 2-3 parts with the help of a knife.
  2. Chop the onion for food, peel the skins of the tomatoes and dice them.
  3. Take the onion, sugar and salt into the pressure cooker and knead with salt to soften the onion.
  4. Add the tomatoes, olive oil and black-eyed peas to the pot and mix. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on high heat until the whistle blows.
  5. After the whistle blows, turn down the heat and cook for 8 more minutes and remove it from the stove. Serve cold.

    Hello,
When you say knead the onion with salt, you mean rubbing it with our hands when it is raw, right? After we put all the ingredients in, will we burn the bottom of the pressure cooker?
    Thanks for the recipe

      Hello Elif,
Yes, we rub it from the dew. After putting all the materials, we open the bottom of the pressure cooker. Make sure the tomatoes are juicy. If not, add very little water. Yours sincerely

It is not specified at which stage the garlic is used in the recipe. With the onion? Yours sincerely
